Oct 1, 2007 - The Cotswolds

We leave our Bristol hotel for a day in the Cotswolds. Our new driver is Graham and we have rotated the bus seating so we are directly behind him. We leave the A46 and turn onto the A433. The day has started off rainy and cloudy. We pass through Tetbury, close to Prince Charles country home. Trees grow right up to the edge of the road and overhang it, making it quite dark for 9AM. We pass barley fields, some sizeable, possibly 40-60 acres. We are now on the A429 and headed for the town of Stow-on-the-Wold. The word 'wold' is anglo-saxon for...

Sep 30, 2007 - From Waterford across St. Georges Channel to Bristol

Up at 5AM, to leave by 7AM so we can catch the early ferry. The wife has not been looking forward to this crossing and started a couple days ago taking motion sickness pills. The drive from Waterford to Rosslare Harbor is in foggy rainy weather. The ferry we have today is much larger than the one before. It leaves at 9AM for a 3 1/2 hour crossing. It starts out smooth and stays that way. I am able to get up on the upper deck to take pictures. The time passes quickly and we soon enter the harbor at Fishguard. By 1PM we are back on the bus...

May 28, 2005 - Monmouth

And so on to Wales for the first time and to see Aunty Anne and Uncle Peter. Ruthlin Mill was a haven after five months of London. We eventually got 'stuck' here after the hire car thing fell through and didn't we hate that...not. Meg caught the knitting bug and under the tutelidge of the grand master was soon whipping up a vest. I spent my time sampling many a single malt and talking to the dog. We were lucky enough to also see the surrounding area in Peter's V12 Jaguar. Oh, this was a terrible three days...
