Aug 2, 2009 - The Standing Stone of Ballinaby

This pre-historic monolith was buried around 3,000 BCE (5,000 years ago) by people of the stone age. The purpose is not known, but numerous such stones are scattered across the British Isles and Normandy coast. These are of the same general age as the henges, such as Stone Henge. Getting to the site was an interesting challenge. We have come to think of our journey in Scotland as an exciting treasure hunt. We get a clue as to something we would like to see. Its general location is revealed. The road to it may or may not be on the map....
