Jun 29, 2018 - One more day to go

Dear all, We'll have included a few different photos from today. Hope you enjoy them and get a laugh from them. Look carefully at them. We only have one more day on this tour but it has been most enjoyable. We have seen places that are not on the main roads and stayed at special small private hotels. We have had a great time with only 15 on the tour. Would probably go with them again. Continue to do lots of walking each day. The weather remains fine and warm. There is talk of water restrictions here next week if there is no rain. Kind...

Our Big Trip

Oct 3, 2014 - a taste of Dorset

The Road Scholar photography program we considered taking here ended its itinerary in Lyme Regis, so we wanted to see why. LR is in Dorset just across the Devon border, so it was another lengthy drive. We have put 1,000 miles on the car since we arrived. We discovered that the Hardy Monument stands high on Blackdown Hill just above the small village of Portesham. The monument was not for Thomas Hardy the author but built in 1844 in memory of Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Masterman Hardy, Flag Captain of HMS Victory at the...

Jul 7, 2011 - Walks

A long day of activities planned, some very momentous walks, and once again I had trouble dragging myself out of bed. Even so I was up early compared to my normal life. We stopped at a store to pick up some food for a picnic and hit the road again. They were some particularly scary roads today - I have come to love the M roads, and fear the B roads. A roads have their moments. Ever since we started letterboxing in 2004 I have longed to box on Dartmoor, and today was finally the day, but I really don't feel like I have boxed on Dartmoor...
