6 Oct Patrick was born in Britain about 386 AD to a christian family. At 16 he was kidnapped by pirates and brought to Ireland where he lived in a pagan druid household for about six years tending sheep. He relied on the faith instilled by his parents to get through this terrible period and grew determined to convert Ireland In about 408 he escaped via ship to France and ultimately reunited with his family. Patrick traveled to France to study for the priesthood and in about 431 Pope St. Celestine sent him to Ireland as the Bishop of Ireland...

May 27, 2012 - Northern Ireland

Mum's and my final day in Yorkshire was supposed to be a very relaxed one, which for the most part it was until we were close to running out of petrol, running late to return hire car and get on the plane. Thankfully neither happened but did mean a frantic departure! Another hot day and a drive through the Yorkshire Dales whic were lovely with a stop for a late lunch at Pately Bridge. Arrived into George Best Belfast city airport. We were met by Alan, who is Dad's cousin and at that point Mum and I went our separate ways. Me to Caroline...
