May 11, 2014 - Northern Ireland and the Giant's Causeway

Hello everyone, We had breakfast at Leeson House and called a taxi to the airpot to pick up our car. I won't go into the details, but it was quite a hassle trying to get the car we wanted and get the insurance straightened out. We ended up with a Peugeot minivan with an automatic transmission. We set our GPS for the Morning Calm B&B in Ballymoney and took off. The first half of the trip was uneventful. However, this happens to be the starting day for the Giro d'Italia, a HUGE bike race like the Tour de France race. There are thousands of...

Nov 7, 2006 - Canoeing in Northern Ireland

No trip back to Northern Ireland would quite be complete without a dip in...I mean, on the water. We hooked up with some friends and canoed up and down the Bann one day and the Lagan River another. Lorna was busy perfecting her canoe strokes for her upcoming 4* skills test which she passed with flying colours!!! All in all, it was super fun and only a bit nippy when we both fell in!

Jul 21, 2006 - Portrush and the Antrim Coast

Today was yet another busy day. We left bright and early, heading to some ancient basalt rock formations on the Antrim Coast, known as the 'Giants Causeway'. Apr 8, 2005 - Port Stewart

Sitting atop Northern Ireland, Port Stewart is a magic little town we mainly visited to see the famous Giant's Causway (see pic). Port Stewart turned out to be an attraction in itself, mainly due to the incredible location of the hostel near the water - the weather was fierce and so cold my camera stopped working. Super cosy in front of the wood fire in the hostel though - one of the best nights ever. The drive back to Belfast was also a highlight along the Antrim Coast. We drove along 50m high cliffs and the bus, I kid you not was getting...
