Feb 6, 2015 - Worcester

It was a cold but sunny day so we decided to visit the cathedral town of Worcester. The modern shopping area was not much but exploring further we did find Friar Street with a hotchpotch of half-timbered houses and small shops. Towering above the River Severn is the cathedral which has the table tomb of King John (1167-1216) of Magna Carta fame and had a magnificent nave.

Jan 26, 2015 - Croome

We had changed base to just south of Birmingham near Solihull in order to visit our respective cousins and also to explore the area. Our first visit was to visit Croome a house near Worcester. Although a former stately home (which is currently being renovated) the estate played an important role in World War II as a secret air base which researched and developed radar on to planes. We enjoyed a good walk around the estate and then visited the exhibition on the role of Croome during World War II.

Oct 7, 2008 - Off to Sandies

I break my time in Scotland to fly down and see Bryan and Sandie in Droitwich, just north or Worcester, in the midlands, not far from the Welsh border. It is a town built on massive salt deposits, the baths here are known for their healing properties. I spent quite a bit of time at the Edinburgh airport as my bus was an early one, and didn't arrive here til late in the evening. We had fish and chip tea.... almost as good as home, the difference was we had curry sauce on the chips. It was quite delicious :-)
