Today we visited Shaftesbury in inland Dorset. Shaftesbury used to be a place where pilgrims in 978 flocked tp pay homage to the bones of Edward the Martyr which was brought to abbey. At the time Shaftesbury had a castle,twelve churches and four market crosses. Today onlyst Peter's Church and the footings of the abbey remain. Today the town is better known for Golden Hill a quaint,cobbled and very steep street. This street was used in the 1970s for the British Hovis bread advert with a boy climbing the hill to get a loaf of bread. Walking...
