Aug 20, 2018 - More Locks

Yesterday we walked up the hill to Manor Lodge which was having a Tudor Day. On the way I spotted these 2 rotary clothes hoists - the only ones I've seen in the country so far, they use rope lines still in their small gardens. The lodge only has one complete building remaining, and the whole area is, of course, steeped in history. Aug 13, 2018 - Minster

We walked into town this morning and had a stroll through the Minster - a beautiful old building that dates from the 15th Century although it has structures remaining from Saxon and Norman times. One of the biggest failures in the country - they just didn't take off. They don't do much DIY work here and don't have big gardens, so it was destined for failure. Someone didn't their homework. We went for a wander around town, but being Sunday afternoon it was...

Sep 2, 2010 - Back to England

Today I leave the continent and return to England. This signals the real "work" part of my trip as I am heading to Yorkshire to sort out (hopefully) the Kendall family tree. I have been there before, but this time I am hoping to answer a few questions that have come up, and to scour the parishes around the known areas for my Kendall clan, to hopefully pick up any "strays" and connect (or discount) a few trees that I had found in 2007. I left at 10:15am for the 1-hour drive to the airport. You never know what traffic will be like, and I do...
