Monday, Woke up this morning to a drizzly cold morning, back in the winter woollies..... The plan for today was to visit a town close by called Bakewell, where they have markets each Monday, and then hopefully do a bike ride on a rail trail nearby. So we headed out to Bakewell and, like most of the little towns round here, there is no parking in the streets because they are so tight, but found a town car park close to the town centre so we parked in there. Jul 30, 2012 - National Tramway Museum

Today we went to Matlock. We intended on the way to stop at Bakewell but it was so busy we gave it a miss. At Matlock we visited the National Tramway Museum. The museum is set in a period village with many of the buildings original but from locations across the country. The museum had an amazing collection of trams and told the history of trams and tramways in Britain. The trams at the museum mostly ran along the streets of cities in United Kingdom before the 1960s, with some trams rescued and restored as the systems closed. We completed...

Aug 22, 2010 - Home

Well, home is always home. We live in a beautiful spot in England; green, pastoral, little valleys, rocky outcrops and sloping hillsides. An abandoned castle on the horizon. The skies are heavy-laden with rain, as they often are in Britain. It feels cold. But it's home. It's where we belong. It's good to have space to spread out - not for the four of us to be cooped up in a car together or bedroom. It's good to see friends.
