One of the highlights of our stay in Thailand was to contemplate, plan and execute a trip to nearby Phuket island to check out the first ever Harry Potter film. Our kids were both great fans and we'd read through all four books twice. So the boys knew every muggle, potion and spell almost as well as does Hermione Granger herself! We were indeed fortunate to be joined by our friend Gary who teaches at National University of Singapore and so another bachelor become indoctrinated into H.P. frenzy! Parlow China Trip

Dec 2, 2002 - Ao Nang

So we moved down the coast a bit to the seaside town of Ao Nang, which has a nice stretch of beach with lots of boats to take people to nearby islands. We have a great room with a huge bed just off the front and can see the sea (just) from it. We spend the days ona nearby island that the boat takes us to, and then walk as far as we can away from people. The water is really shallow and the sea incredibly warm. It really is paradise. Even I spend a lot of time in the water. A lot of this area was really messed up by the Tsunami.

Ko Phi Phi consists of 2 amazingly beautiful islands in the Andaman Sea - - Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Ley. Most of the islands consist of sheer cliffs interspersed with spectacularly white powder-soft sand beaches. The islands are ringed with coral reefs which are home to all kinds of fish and other marine life and make for excellent diving and snorkelling. The sea is an incredible clear turquoise blue colour. The island has been a popular tourist area for some time and there are lots of hotels, guest houses and services to be had along the...
