Dec 20, 2012 - Thailand for Christmas......22/12-4/1

7/1/13 - So we leave Bangkok at 6pm on 22/12 to get to the ferry port at 2.30am & have until 7am to wait for the ferry to take us to Koh Tao, not good! What do we do, sleep? Of course not, it was past midnight & it was my birthday so we had a little party with a young Israeli guy we met on the bus whilst all the other backpackers tried to sleep! I had a cake with a candle, cards Keith had brought from home from everyone & a bottle of Thai whiskey I'd picked up on the last pitstop.......it was perfect & a fab start to the day! Koh Tao - The...

Dec 7, 2012 - In Love With Koh Tao

So as the title may give away, I’ve fallen in love with Koh Tao Island or “Little Turtle” Island as it’s known to the locals. The place is just amazing, and for me, it seems to have the right amount of partying to resting ratio of lifestyle. The reason I’ve taken so long to write about this place is that I’ve left and returned 3 times with a huge thanks to Ollie Pine and the Davy Jones Locker team for making me feel so welcome. They have really made it a home away from home for me. So anyway… I’ll just start from the beginning then and the...

Nov 22, 2012 - Ko Tao Continued - Girlie Days :)

The evenings have turned into a university kind of atmosphere, pre-drinks with the girls and other dorm mates then going onto Lotus Bar and dancing on the beach until the early morn at ‘fishbowl’. Okay I know there was no beach at uni just the forum but hey same same but different. One of the days it poured all day, so we girls decided to have a slumber party, it was really fun talking about girlie stuff and pigging out on crap food and just giggling. I am settling with the girlies more now and Kevin, Joel, Emma and Bobby from Phi-Phi have...

Nov 20, 2012 - Koh Tao - Missing Home

It was a long 7 hour journey to Ko Tao especially with a 4.30am wake-up call, consisting of going from a mini bus, to coach, to ferry to boat. Was a bit of a nightmare but I slept for most the time in-between. When I arrived in Ko Tao I went to get a taxi, and I just wanted to get to the hostel, I was back to feeling lonely and missing home. I shared a taxi with 2 guys, when I say a taxi it was it was a truck where I sat on the back of it on the outside with my backpack - what a nightmare I nearly bounced off, especially with the weight of...

May 12, 2012 - Ko Tao

Our shack in Koh Tao was similar to the wooden hut in Koh Lak but less wildlife to negotiate, if you don't count the 2 yapping, wild dogs half way down the hill. We have become mountain goats in our time on Koh Tao, with our hut near the bottom of a cliff. The hut had the minimum of what you need really, a roof over your head and a bed with a mattress that felt like it was made of sand, it was packed down like a rock, with a pillow to match and sheets that had only made a cursery nod to the washing machine. Luckily, we have our sleeping bag...

Apr 26, 2012 - Settling in to life on Koh Tao- Turtle Island

Hi All, Well the relaxing, soothe the soul, calm your energetic self, mode has finally set in for the two of us. It has been five days since my last entry. For the past six years our vacations have been filled with lots of activity and adventure....this year we are both is total chill mode. We get up early and go to bed early ( ok, that's not that different for me at home). We decided that if we wake up and feel adventurous we will seek out a crazy activity to occupy our day. We had wonderful time in Koh Samui, but it seems we both may have...

Jan 20, 2012 - matka jatkuu
