May 19, 2005 - Ko Samui - package holidayers paradise

After our one luxury night in air-con and with a tv (to watch Miss USA and Friends on) we woke up to a lovely cold room! didn't want to get up, but managed it and booked our bus/boat tickets to Samui, eat brekki and jumped on said bus. After an ok journey (barr 4 extremely irritating and loud canadian girls) we arrived, joined forces with another girl who bussed with us, and headed to Lucky Mother Bungalows. Out for a nice dinner, wanderered around the high street (could quite easily have been in Turkey/Corfu/Tenerife etc), accidently...

May 17, 2005 - Mom (ferry to Koh Samui)

My sister called me last night about 11.30 my time. My mother remains in ICU at the hospital, and her condition has deteriorated, she has been put back on feeding tubes and ventilation, meaning that her mouth is open, full of tubes leading to her stomach and lungs. Apparently one lung has a hole in it, the other is on the verge of collapsing, she has pnemonia and cannot eat solid foods. The doctor said that he wouldn't do all this if he didn't think there was some chance of recovery, but the events of the past few days (indeed the past few...

May 13, 2005 - Koh Samui, Thailand

Yes it was Friday the 13th, but no thankfully nothing went wrong. From Haad Rin pier we took our 45 minute boat across to Koh Samui and then another truck which took us eventually to a place which we chose to stay not too far from the Chareng central area. The beach here was very secluded and clean and the water was warm, and we almost had the whole place to ourselves which was different. We took advantage of an opportunity by going Jetskiing for the first time. This really was a superb experience, and a great adreniline rush as you carve...

Apr 5, 2005 - Koh Samui

During the diving course, our instructor, Rene, tried to sell us a 7 day live aboard diving trip to the Similan Islands - "It's perfect for honeymooners," he said and he showed us a film to convince us we couldn't miss it. It looked more than fabulous. But unfortunatley, the trip wasn't leaving for another 4 days and we didn't have the 7 days on top of that to waste. But, we decided together that we indeed couldn't miss that experience and that we would get to the Similans on our own. So we set off to travel south and figure out how we...

Mar 21, 2005 - Lamai, Koh Samui

Thank God! - got to the islands at last. 16 hour bus journey down from Bangkok, stopping twice on the way at 'service stations.'Got on a boat over to Koh Samui at 8am and arrived at midday, greeted by Taffy, an old Maniscalco aquaintance who runs some Apartments. Very nice indeed! - no spaces at the moment so we found a guesthouse nextdoor. We're here for two days before we move over to Koh Phagnan on Wednesday, ready for the Full Moon Party which should be interesting - not too sure whats in store but hey.. Koh Samui is great, were...

Feb 2, 2005 - Koh Samui

After Koh Pangan, I headed to Koh Samui to check out the biggest island in the Gulf. I stayed there for 5 nights and it was a bit like being on a European holiday. There were many european tourists there and tons of beachside resorts. Sun worship was the name of the game. I did rent a scooter and tour around the island and saw some waterfalls and beaches. Pictures of Samui were lost too. I stayed in Samui for 5 nights. Next, I headed to the northern most of the three islands, Koh Tao, to accomplish one of my travel goals, SCUBA diving.

Dec 9, 2004 - Koh Samui

Hey there trendsetters. We are in Koh Samui at the moment - on the other side of the Thai peninsula. We decided to leave Phi Phi and take 2 ferries and a 4 hour bus ride across to Samui. Tash & I have vague plans to have a small wedding in Thailand next year and decided to check out Samui as most weddings/honeymoons are usually held here. We spent a couple of days heading from resort to resort comparing wedding packages and checking out rooms, gardens, beaches etc. There are some amazing resorts over here - some are just pure class. I know...

Nov 18, 2004 - Ko Samui - Part I

Tuesday, 16th of November: Arrive at Suratthani at 7.00am and take a bus to the pier to catch the boat over to Ko Samui. Once I arrie I take a local bus to Bo Phut and go straight to the Billabong Surf Club and ask for Kirk, a friends of Cris's (Feebs). He is extremely kind and helpful and within one hour I have rented a Bungalow for a month for only 150 euros. I meet Wayne, a British guy in his late 40's covered in tattoos and walks around with a football jersey on all the time. We meet up later and go for a few beers. He offers to take me...

Oct 31, 2004 - Back in Koh Samu...my bro Nick is coming on Saturday!!!

Well I am back in Koh Samui, and I have started Kiteboarding School yesterday. Although unfortunately there is not much wind and the rainy season has kinda kicked in. I am starting to wonder if the Kiteboard Gods have something against me because I have tried so many times to do this sport with no luck. Oh well, I have been learning all of the many aspects about the sport in class, and the importance of safety. Hopefuly we will get some wind so I can get my certification from the IKO. I am very excited though because one of my best mates,...

FINDING MY WAY

Oct 27, 2004 - Ko Samui

Mange er her paa to ukers ferie. Ikke saa ulikt det man finner saa mange steder i soer-Europa om sommeren. Vel, man kan selvfoelgelig unngaa de mest turistifiserte stedene ved aa bo paa andre strender enn...

Oct 22, 2004 - Island No 1 - Koh Samui

Hi Everyone You've probably all heard by now how long it took us to get here. A fairly epic journey of 36hrs across 2 countries. Highlights included: - Arctic (air) conditions on a 6 hour train journey, realising that our jumpers were happily packed at the bottom of our bags. - Trying to find a way into one of the tallest buildings in the world in Kuala Lupmur - we could see it but we couldn't get to it. - Sleeping in a small bunk bed carriage for 14 hours with about 30 malaysians (but no chickens!) - Leaving our bags on the train at...
