Jan 17, 2006 - Bangkok to Koh Samui

IT's now the 17th and Barb and I are in Koh Samui. We left Chiang Mai on the 15th and flew to Bangkok for a night. Barb's friend Tim picked us up and met friends for lunch at Bourbon Street in downtown Bangkok. Had some spicy shrimp and a few Klosters and then toured around downtown. All I can say about Bangkok is that it is a big big city with a lot of big fat tourists touring around with young Thai girls. It's just WRONG. We stayed at the Landmark downtown and the next morning hit the airport to fly east to Koh Samui. I picked up a dirty...

Dec 29, 2005 - Ko Samui

29 Dec Arrived at Ko Samui at 2:30. The building of the domestic terminal still resembles a beach bar. It took quite a while to find a bungalow (it is peak of the peak season) on Chaweng beach. We had a short swim in the sea then explored one of the seaside restauarants where you can chose your fish from an ice-bed. We took sole fish and a jug of Australian chardonnay so it was a nice start down here... 30 Dec A lazy day at last. Beach, walk, eat, beach, eat (shark and barracuda), walk. Rented a motorbike for a trip tomorrow. 31 Dec It was...

Jul 14, 2005 - Thailand - Bangkok to Koh Samui

We must be an unusal bunch, we always love returning to Bangkok. Most people dispise it because they can't deal with the pollution and mayhem but for us Bangkok signifies our gateway to adventure in Asia. During the week, we firstly concentrated on organizing visas for Myanmar and India, which required a full week to process and purchasing airtickets for these counties. Sightseeing consisted of, visiting the National Museum and the Jim Thompson house a delightful oasis in inner Bangkok. We also had time for some socializing, catching up...

May 24, 2005 - Full Moon Party

Having flown to Phuket in Thailand and spent a few days visiting relatives, i then flew across the country to a small island called Koh Phangan. This island is renowned for its full moon parties and so on 23rd of May, Andy Tham was a part of the full moon celebrations!! I'd give you an idea of what the party was like, but due to the heat, humidity, lack of sleep etc.. the alcohol went straight to my head and i can't remember most of it! Think i may have made it to midnight before heading to bed. The parts i do remember consist of a very...

Apr 18, 2005 - Ko Pha Ngan

We had heard good things about Ko Pha Ngan but our whistle-stop tour wasn't able to do the place full justice. Trying to cram in as many places as possible in our last remaining weeks, we were only able to stay 2 days. However, a longtail boat tour of the island showed us some of the many lovely beaches and gave us an insight into what the island was about. We stayed on Hat Rin, the main resort, but coming from Ko Tao it felt a bit commercial and overdeveloped. This is where they hold the infamous full moon parties but unfortunately our...
