Nov 24, 2016 - Walk in the hills behind Crevillente

Having been in a campground with all the trees we discovered that the car roof had resin drip all over it. It took us all day to get the resin off. The best thing was WD40. It was a good day so we decided we would head into the hills behind Crevillente. After taking a number different roads we eventually found the start of the walk. The walk took us around an area of ravines, Badlands, and orange, figs and lemon orchards and water reservoirs. It was an interesting walk but not easy to follow.

Jan 27, 2016 - Move to just south of Alicante

Again we had to make a long move. We had rung one nearer to Altea which we knew took RVs but were told they were full till April! We then tried a huge campground (1,200) near Alicante, who could accommodate us so we had to make a longer move than we really wanted to, just over 220 miles. We arrived at the campground after a good journey. The campground was busy mainly Brits, Netherlanders and Germans with a smattering of other nationalities. We were one of at least 20 large American motor homes on the site, more large 5th wheels (possibly...

Mar 4, 2014 - What a night!

Well that is a night i don't want to have ever again. We had very strong gale force winds from about 1pm to 4pm which violently rocked the van and kept us awake the whole time. The awning was in severe danger of flying off into the wilderness and Steve had to go out several times to re secure the guy ropes and retrieve the holding strap that kept coming off the front of the awning. At 3pm we were sitting up drinking tea and wishing and hoping for the wind to stop. It was a horrible night and we now feel wrung out and exhausted. The wind is...

Feb 6, 2014 - Walk and Rest

It's Thursday 6 February and a beautiful day. An early walk through the countryside and then to a very Spanish bar in Catral for drink and rest and some interesting conversation. So back to base and a good read - until the sleep took over. Trying our hands at a game of boules tomorrow with our friends from next door. They seem to know the rules so we should be ok - we shall see!

Feb 3, 2014 - Dancing

Went to our 3rd ballroom dancing lesson this morning but for the first time stayed after the beginners session to attempt the improvers session. We didn't do bad considering but after and hour and a half our minds were addled and the steps to the slow quickstep, the waltz , the crystal chandelier (a sequence dance) and some sort of tango all became muddled into one so it was time for coffee and relaxation. Had coffee with very nice couple who come from South Africa. She was born there and he was in the police force and they now live in...

Jan 28, 2014 - Got Good wifi Signal Now

After many failed attempts we now have a reasonably good and secure wifi signal. We've rented a router from the local internet shop and finally got it working. It means we can now skype ok and I can update this journal and add photos. Our days seem to be sailing by with always something to do. We're keeping up the swimming, walking and cycling so our aim to get fitter will hopefully be achieved. There's lots of social events that take place and loads of really nice people to chat to. We're off to Cartajena tomorrow and have done what was...

Jan 17, 2014 - Well and truly settled now

It's Friday and all is well. Yesterday rained and we took the opportunity to reccie the joint and chill out a bit. Tried to get TV sorted out but it's not looking good as although each pitch has its own digital connection - our TV is analogue! The only solution is to buy a cheap TV but not sure if we're going to bother. Don't worry Jemma we will survive! We can get all radio stations on lap top so we will be fine. Today the temperature is around 25 degrees and very calm. Nice! Went swimming first thing this morning and then into the...
