Jan 21, 2016 - Vinaròs

We had moved to a campground just inland from the town of Vinaròs. The campground was not very much. The campground was trying to sell plots for mobile homes but had sold very few. The pitches for and caravans or motorhomes were large but needed weeding and generally tidying. They were very unclear which market they were in and failing both. However it was easy in and in a good location for exploring. Our first day saw us visiting Vinaròs and as well as exploring town we enjoyed a good walk along the promenade. As we had found elsewhere the...

Nov 17, 2013 - week 3

Sunday 10th Driving all day, past Barcelona, managed ok despite misleading signs, arrived at Salou at half four. Roy knackered so we took the dogs straight away, finding that once again, no dogs allowed on beach, but they were so hot and had been in their harnesses in the Bus all day so we risked a fine and took them on leads down to the sea for a quick dip. This Aire is fab, except very narrow entrance and exit, right on the prom, with coloured fountains, clean and tidy, very pretty, hope to stay 2 nights as its free and safe. Settled...

Winter 2013

Nov 1, 2013 - Benicarló

(Sue) ... My 60th birthday – awoke to open two birthday cards from enterprising friend’s who’d taken the opportunity to send them while we were stranded in Edithmead; so lovely to receive wishes from home. We’d skyped our daughter back in New Zealand last night – a great birthday treat to see our 16-month-old grandson have a little tantrum and then enjoying himself on his rocking horse! It didn’t take us long to get on the road, and we drove through some pretty scenery with the grape vines and deciduous trees changing to their autumn...

Sep 27, 2006 - Flamingos and cranes

Hi The day I left the last campsite, I decided to have a bit of a tour of the area before moving north. I headed into one of the natural parks that was close to La Manga, and found that La Manga golf resort is actually built there and not on La Manga at all. As these areas are meant to be protected, I wondered how many back handers were needed to get permission to build, or maybe it was built without permission, which also happens here a lot I am told! Some of the views were lovely, I stopped at a small village called Portman (no building...

Jul 21, 2005 - Somewhere in Spain

After saying goodbye to Lloret de Mar, we headed south towards Barcelona. Eva's dad Jindrich (Henry in English) had business to do in Valencia and Paris, so he decided to travel with us for a few days. He would fly into Barcelona where we would pick him up and go to Valencia, then Paris, and then drop him off in Brussels where he would fly home. We picked Henry up in mid-afternoon and then headed south. Valencia is located on the coast about halfway between Barcelona in the north and the southern tip of Spain. We decided to only go about...
