Sep 21, 2005 - Kruger National Park, South Africa

Sep 6, 2005 - South Africa - Kruger National Park

From Mkuze NP we decided to head through Swaziland (just so we could say we've been to another Country and get our passports stamped) up to Kruger. Things went a bit wrong for Leesa hen we were leaving Swaziland and re-entering South Africa as her free visa (which you can have for up to 3 months but they normally only give you 1 month unless you specify longer)that you get when you first enter South Africa had expired by 2 days. After 1 hour at the border Leesa was R1,000 worse off as even though it is a free visa if you exceed the date it...

Jul 1, 2005 - Kruger National Park Updated!!!

After several days at Dongola resort we packed up camp to make our way towards our next destination, KRUGER NATIONAL PARK!!!! I was really excited to finally get to see the park that I have heard so much about. We got up early and started down the road. The drive was beautiful along the rolling hills spotted with rondovals (round houses) and there were little huts set up all along the road selling fruit and firewood. We eventually made it to the park (only after stopping to repair a tire on Moglie again!). We went on a nice game drive on...

Apr 16, 2005 - Safari in Kruger National Park

I flew to Johannesburg, South Africa and was picked up by Springbok tours. Springbok is the National animal for South Africa and looks like a shorter, two-toned deer with stripes and horns. We drove for 5 and 1/2 hours to the northeast and headed towards Kruger National Park, a wildlife preserve the size of Belgium. We stayed at the Mpulanga entrance to the park and would be going on four 4-hour safaris in the park. Our truck reminded me a little of Jurassic Park and Harold, our German Safari guide was extremely knowledgable of the plants...

Jun 3, 2004 - Kruger Park

Note: sorry no pics yet, I'll have to download them at the next place (maybe Spain) as this one doesn't have USB ports). Spent the last few days in one of the world's largest zoos. Had a great time. Some highlights below: Day 1: Left early to make the trek up to the Kruger National Park area. Only Breton, our guide, and a Norwegian couple were in the truck, so we had plenty of room to move about. Andrea and John Thomas were making their way aroud the world, had just left Brazil, and would head off to Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia...
