Feb 18, 2007 - Able Tasman, Experiencing the South Island

After a breathtaking ferry ride from the North Island to the South Island where we passed through sparcely populated, rugged, fjord-like landscape, we docked in Picton. Sorry folks, we didn't take any pictures, just video as pictures couldn't capture the panorama. We immediately pushed on to a town called Motueka where we stayed a few days to enjoy the Able Tasman Sea. Jul 3, 2006 - Raining at Abel Tasman National Park

We spent the better part of our 4th of July treking along the first leg of the Abel Tasman Great Walk. A New Zealand Great Walk is basically a long hike which can last for days. Many trampers pack everything in with them and stay at huts which are interspersed throughout the route. We wanted to experience a bit of this hike, but we didn't have the gear to go all the way, so we souldered our lunch filled packs and set out. The track wanders through rainforest on the edge of the ocean, so that golden bays with aqua water are never far away....
