Apr 21, 2006 - Through the city and back to nature

We're up shortly after 6, have a coffee and head over to the hot pool! What a way to start a morning! By 8 we're on our way along the Seabird Coast - otherwise known as "the flats". After a few km where we are lulled into a false sense of serenity, the slalom starts again. Seriously, how narrow can a road become? Yes, we know it's a "yellow" road, but even this is pushing it. Dec 20, 2004 - Spa Waters

19th dec Today we said fairwell to Piahia, and the Bay of Islands area, and turned South, in the direction of Auckland. We do not need to reach our last campsite in Auckland until 5pm on the 21st dec, so we will take our time and follow the scenic routes where possible. One such diversion is a coastal loop off the H1, which takes you through several small villages, Sandy Bay was aptly named , and when we arrived it was sunlit and the surfers were out, trying to make the best of a very weak surf, and there was one certain photo I wished to...
