Mar 2, 2007 - Day 170 - Driving the length of the country to Lake Tekapo

Driving through the South island is a pleasure. Firstly, there's no bugger here! NZ only has a population of 4 million, 3.5M of which lives in the North island! Secondly, almost every minute you are offered at least one view that could be made into a well selling postcard. Constantly spectacular. Thirdly, there are lots of fluffy sheep everywhere all looking very happy! So after a full day of driving we made it down as far as Lake Tekapo. The water of the lake is a most prisine aqua blue. Kerrie and Gavin made us so welcome and comfortable in their home it made it really hard for us to leave but it was now time to start our journey south. We booked into a motel room overlooking the lake giving us absolutely stunning views with Mount Cook in the distance. Unfortunately the rain came down soon after our arrival and not only bang went our walk but our view too. Lets hope we wake up...

We did look at the night sky but it seems...

Apr 26, 2005 - Mid Semester Break trip down to the South Island

18 April --> 26 April 2005. Viktoria and I went down to the South Island of New Zealand for our Mid Semester Break. We started off in Christchurch where we flew into. Then we went to Kaikoura for a winery tour, then to Nelson where we went skydiving and hiking in Abel Tasman Park. Then we went to Greymouth for the Monteith's Brewery tour, and then to Franz Josef where we did the glacier hike. That was so awesome. On the way to Queenstown, we went to Ross to try our luck at gold panning. After that we went to Queenstown where we took a...
