Feeling a bit poorly today for some reason - a bit unfair as no alcohol passed my lips last night. Anyway, we spent the morning at the Maori Arts and Crafts Centre which was really interesting, although I had to concentrate quite hard on not being sick! It involved a really good guided tour of the information centre, before showing us the meeting house and some other tradtional Maori things. Then came the extremely stinky hot springs and geisers, which were very impressive to look at, but not so pleasant on the nose. They did stop me...

Jul 29, 2005 - Waitomo

We arrived at Christine and Owens farm (friends of friends) and were spoilt the 3 days we were there! Thanks for having us! Owen was preparing the sheep for lambing season when we arrived so we put on wellies (called gumboots in new zealand!) and waterproofs then went out to watch. It was pretty cool being so close to the sheep and watching the dogs rounding them up etc. Then owen took us up into the hills on his quad bike - the 3 of us on the front with 5 dogs in a trailor behind.
