Not the most enjoyable sleep last night, both of us had the incident at the restaurant playing on our minds. And it was quite muggy too… Sonja Vennik came to see us, and we went to Onehunga Mall for a quick shop at Kathmandu for padlocks (Cynthea changed back packs and left locks on the old pack!). We had a quick lunch and went to Ambury regional park nearby, where her 2 y.o. grandson , Paxton, could run around after chooks, turkeys, sheep. Great to catch up, Tony and Sonja have known each other since they were babies, a loong, looong time...

2019 tour

Mar 31, 2009 - first day (and then some)

We made it to Auckland, finally. Apparently due to time changes what we thought was going to be a 6 hour flight from LAX to Nadi ended up being 11 hours, yikes! Fortunately the plane wasn't full, but I had to send Chris to an open row of seats so we could both stretch out and sleep, sleep being a relative term. Nadi felt like stepping into a swimming pool when we got off the plane (roughly 90 percent humidity makes 75 degrees feel like a lot more.) We didn't see much, but Fiji was very green and pastoral. Customs into NZ were more painless...
