We are home after spending time in Baja getting to know gray whales. We flew to San Diego, went by van to Tijuana, and then took an overnight 14 hour bus trip in a very comfortable Mexican bus. After 14 hours we arrived in San Ignacio (about halfway down!). We then went by van to our Eco-camp where the accommodations were pretty basic. The Baja winds made it quite chilly at times, but getting out among the whales made up for it. We were able to go out in small boats five times. Nov 24, 2009 - MEX: San Ignacio

Départ ce matin vers San Ignacio, à quelques 145 km vers le sud-est. Nous amorçons ainsi notre traversée de la péninsule qui nous mènera à la mer de Cortez, étendue d’eau plus calme que le Pacifique et garantissant un peu plus de chaleur. Depuis que nous sommes partis le 22 septembre et après avoir traversé divers états et pays, nous avons toujours dû chauffer beaucoup ou un peu la nuit. Mileage 15,819 There is really only one lone highway the length of the Baja so it sort of zigs and zags from the Pacific side to the Golfo side. We continued on down the coast and then cut over east to San Ignacio; a very neat and picturesque little oasis - beautiful green fan palms everywhere. Like most towns here, it has a beautiful Mission (Misión San Ignacio de Kadakaamán, 1728) on the town square. Everyone is very friendly and glad to see you.
