Nov 2, 2006 - Diving Sipadan

Sipadan is a small island off the eastern coast of Malaysian Borneo. It was formed by a coral reef growing on top of a extinct volcano, rising 600m from the floor of the sea bed. The result is a vertical wall of coral around the edge of the island, filled with aquatic life. It is also a known hangout of pirates (arrrggg matey) who like to take foreigners hostage. But that hasn't happened for years. The best part of sipadan isn't the coral, or the pirates, even though they are both pretty cool. On every dive I saw at least 10 turtles, but...
