My Journey in 2011

Apr 4, 2011 - Kota Bharu

@@@@@@@ BACKGROUND Khota Baru is Malaysia’s northernmost city, sitting alongside the Sungai River, 10km inland from the sea. It’s a devoutly Muslim city, proud of its Malay heritage. Its citizens are relaxed and very friendly, and although most foreign visitors arrive overland from neighbouring Thailand on their way to the Perhentian Islands, there are some interesting buildings and museums to see if one has the time. Khota Bharu makes a great base for exploring the province of Kelantan. Overnight tours into the jungle are popular, as well...

Mar 3, 2011 - cooking in Kota Bharu

We've called this cooking in KB for 2 reasons, 1),it's absolutely baking hot ,and 2) we've been shown how to do proper Malaysian cooking. We very nearly didn't come to Kota Bharu, but I'm so glad we did, because we've had an amazing time here. It's 1 and a half hours in the opposite direction from the Cameron Highlands, which is our next stop where we're meeting Eva and John, so I was still a bit undecided when we got off the boat. I nipped off to the loo and when I returned, Theo had negotiated a price for a taxi to KB. That seems cheap I...

May 3, 2010 - Taman Negara

Dec 14, 2009 - Change of plans =)

Oct 3, 2009 - Kota Bharu

Oct 3-4th, 2009 Kota Bharu is found in the Northeast corner of the country and has a large Islamic population. It was our stop over on our way to Taman Negara. We didn't have a chance to check out the sights. We basically ran errands and hit up the market for some fine dining. We were feeling adventurous and had a spread of goodies from various food stalls. The mystery banana leaf wrap was quiet yummy and the chocolaty dessert with a little Malaysian flag on a toothpick was delightful. Other than that...the other treats were OK to...

Jun 25, 2009 - Kota Bharu

Nina in Malaysia

Mar 2, 2009 - Native village

On this day, we also visited a native village that was supposedly isolated from the outside world until only about ten years ago. Before that time, they wore leaves and bark for clothes and made fire from scratch, which in the video is demonstrated and many of the tourists, including me got to try. They also hunted with blowgun darts, some poisonous, which we also got to try (not the poisonous ones).

Mar 1, 2009 - Deerland Park

These images are all from Deerland nature park. It was part of the three day nature package I purchased. Here they had many animals of various kinds. They had wild deer, all sorts of birds, differing types of mammals. Many of them I got to feed, hold, or touch.

Jul 12, 2008 - Adieu, Dearest Friends

The day has finally arrived! Although it's understandably imaginable, but the truth is I never could really grasp the reality of actually living my homeland for another country until today. After a short months of pondering, planning, and getting my nerves put together to make today works, only now I find myself giddy with excitements, fears, and anticipation. Looking back, pushing through from March until July, I had undergone many different events, incidents, and experiences which I think worth more than a lifetime. Living a life after...
