Jan 2, 2009 - New Year's in Vang Vieng

A New Year - Abe Dec. 26th, we left Luang Prabang after 10 days of enjoying that city. We were headed to Vang Vieng, three days on the bike. Three days and countless mountain passes, okay not "countless", but many. Up and down and up and down we went through some more stunning scenery. I know I say this every time, but this really was the most spectacular mountain scenery yet. Pretty light traffic. Travelin' Light

Oct 18, 2008 - Vang Vieng

Saturday We arrived in Vang Vieng around noon and the topography is very reminiscent of Yangshuo in China – lumps of mountains jutting out of the earth. But unlike Yangshuo, these mountains are closer together and form a more continuous range. Nevertheless, the effect is quite dramatic. Our hotel is along the river and we are in a lovely little bungalow. The restaurant, open aired, has a wonderful view of the river and mountains. Mar 8, 2008 - Vang Vieng

We continued our drive through the mountains to Van Vieng which has becomea real backpackers area because it offers lots of action type trips - mt. biking, rafting, tubing, kayaking. We were travelling on a regular bus which had AC but the road was very twisty and I was feeling a bit off by the time we arrived so I just took it easy while Lloyd went biking with another fellow to some waterfalls where they had a swim.
