With our time in Central America running short, we started a race through the ruins and beaches we still wanted to visit. We cut out the Copan ruins in Honduras in favor of Tikal, a Mayan temple complex spread out over acres of jungle in northern Guatemala. We wanted to get there in two days, which required a labyrinth of travel connections. The morning we left Roatan, the storm which finished our diving was petering out, but the power for our end of the island was out. That meant we had to wait for it to return before we could use the ATM...
