Jul 21, 2013 - Road Trippin Pt. 2

So I am just all confused and not with the program today. I guess after doing the exact same thing with the exact same people in the exact same place for 6 weeks and now trying to function in Berlin I'm going to have a hard time. I'm just gonna update everyone on how traveling was and give the plan for today. Yesterday I packed all of my crap overnight so I didn't really go to bed but for like an hour. Everybody got up at 5:30 to go catch the ferry at 6:05. Jammie, Rebecca and I were on the early ferry. Trudy stayed until the later one...

Jul 19, 2013 - Last Day on Kea

So who else is ready for daily blog posts again? I am. Once I get with my Germans and Mom and everyone I will hopefully have the wifi for that. I can't believe we're leaving tomorrow. It doesn't seem real. It's been the shortest and the longest 6 weeks of my life. Athens seems like a year ago but it doesn't seem like it's time to leave. Does that make sense? I'm only just realizing how much I'm going to miss everyone. I made really good friends with people from Ohio who I won't see for a year and then Karla, Trudy, Grace and Caolan from...

Jul 8, 2013 - Two More Weeks

Sooo...it's been a while. But in all seriousness my days have been identical to one another so there's not much to report. I'll do it anyway though. I think it's been like a week since my last post so in this past week I have gotten extremely comfortable with team 6. Giannakis is the best team leader ever. He's hilarious. We call him our führer because he wears pants that look like dictator pants every day in the field. Also David got switched out for Lauren the day after I switched teams. I like her a lot. She's also really great to have...

Jun 25, 2013 - Weekend and Last Team 5 Day

What's up everybody? I'm going to lump my boring weekend with my Monday in the field so I don't have to make a bunch of different posts for that. I'm so tired when I get back from the field that I take my shower and then fall asleep before supper. That's when I keep trying to blog but it just keeps not happening. This schedule is really not conducive to blogging on a daily basis. But I'm working on it. When I get rotated back into the Apotheke I will have a little more energy to stay awake before supper and blog. But until then I'll keep...

Jun 25, 2013 - Seal Team 6

Alright I thought I would try to give you guys a pronunciation of Apotheke and my team leaders name but I can't guarantee they will be helpful so here goes nothing. Apotheke is pronounced like App-O-Thee-Kee and my team leader is Yih-Na-Kees. His name starts with a G though so I don't even know how to begin to spell that. I hope that helps though. I hate when I'm reading a book and I can't figure out how a name or a word is supposed to be pronounced. It ruins the flow and I'd hate for the flow of this beautifully crafted writing to be...

Jun 23, 2013 - Bee Ciotus

It just occurred to me that this blog is called Carly's German Travels when in reality I am not in Germany. I'm not changing it now but perhaps a different blog should've been made for this particular leg of my journey. That probably would have made more sense. Oh well. Coulda woulda shoulda. Let me tell you about Friday. It was horrible. So I didn't actually hate my Friday. It ended just fine but the field work that day was god awful. We started at 6:20 just like every day. But that morning it was one of those days where you lay in bed...

Jun 20, 2013 - First Field Day

Alrighty guys I'm going to try to make this as quick as possible because I have to go to bed and get up at 5:30 and its already 11. Today was my first field day so I can go through that. Let's do it! So my day started at 5:30 which is our usual time for field days. I got my backpack ready to go and put on all of my hiking clothes and was ready to go at exactly 6:20 which is when we meet in the car park to leave. It was a little hard to get up that early after being used to getting up at 6:45 for the Apotheke but I managed. My team (team 5)...

Jun 19, 2013 - We're Finally on Kea!

So I was on a roll with that last post so I decided to just keep on rolling. Now I get to tell you guys about Kea! Its so pretty here and I can't wait to get back to one post a day so I can tell you about all of the cool little things we did instead of just telling you where we went. I want to get into more detail so hopefully now I can start doing that. We left Argos on the morning of the 13th. We had to go back to Athens to the Irish Institute to get our luggage and then to get on the bus that would take us to the port. It was horrible...

Jul 11, 2009 - Sailing the Greek Cyclades - Kea and Pireaous

The last stop on our trip was to be the island of Kea, and specifically the port of Korissia. This was probably the largest bay and town we came to with several lobes within the bay to moor in. Interestingly and unlike the other bays we visited, it was quite crowded. We ended up having to pass on two that were too crowded before finding a spot to anchor. As it was crowded, we decided not to jump in for a swim that evening as boats were literally 30 meters apart and it wasnt that appealing to swim amongst them. Cole and i were also quite...
