Today we headed for the small town of Celle. According to our guide book it is “one of the finest half timbered towns in Germany” which turned out to be true. The history of Celle goes back to 14th century when the dukes of Braunschweig-Luneburg were banished from Luneburg and crossed the Luneburg Heide (moor) to Celle and made it an aristocratic Residenzstadt for three centuries.
