May 12, 2014 - Exploring Carolinensiel- Harlesiel

We had our first day in this vicinity exploring the local area. The stellplatz was located at Harlesiel by the sea and surrounded by the sea dyke which, was built in the 1950s to drain the Harlebucht. There is an inner and outer harbour divided by a pumping station which keeps the land dry. After exploring the harbours we headed along the side of the Harle River to the inland harbour town of Carolinensiel. What a lovely surprise this town was. May 11, 2014 - Carolinensiel- Harlesiel, Germany

Today we left the Netherlands and headed north into Germany. Our destination was Carolinensiel-Harlesiel on the North Sea coast. We found the stellplatz and there was no problem getting in, doing a dump, but finding a pitch which did not have too much of a slop was another story. In the end we went across two pitches with the drain in the middle. We looked around, although the stellplatz was paved (really a big car-park) all of the pitches were sloped too much and we noticed even the smaller motorhomes were having problems.
