We started the day docking at Mainz. After breakfast we met with a local guide who took us into the city. Mainz is one of the major wine regions in Germany and part of a worldwide win consortium (see street sign photo). We went into the whole town and into the Gutenberg museum. We had a demonstration on how to Make the type letters that were used in the press and also how to print. We were able to see one of the original Gutenberg Bibles. We spent Thursday in the city of Mainz. Unfortunately, the town was closed for the Feast of Corpus Christi. All shops and businesses except restaurants were closed so there was no shopping. We did go to the Gutenberg museum and see a demonstration of the printing press and copies of the Bible. Because it was the holiday, the tour did not go into the cathedral, however, we were lucky in that we were able to view the procession of the faithful Catholics, priests, school children, Catholic organizations, and cardinal as they processed with the...
