May 28, 2018 - Tournon to Vienne

Day 10. Tournon-Vienne 28/5/18. Monday. Cloudy, some light rain 16-24 degrees This morning we drove 15 minutes from port to ride the Ardeche Steam Train from Tournon in the Rhône valley to Lamastre, in the Doux valley. Made us think of Uncle Jim and his love of steam trains and all the models he made to scale in the days when he had sight to do it, and the track he and others from the club built at the back of his property at Warner, and is still operational. May 19, 2016 - Vienne

Je m'applelle Don! J'ecrive pour nous encore aujourd'hui.....(to hell with syntax!) The Bike ride went very well, they are electric "assist" which means that you do have to pedal but on a long haul or a steep hill the motor kicks in and "helps" to propel you. It takes a bit of getting used to as you can find yourself suddenly surging ahead, but with just a little experience it becomes quite easy. I only actually used this feature during the run around trial period before the ride just to try it out. The bike ride tour itself was quite easy....

Nov 14, 2012 - Sail Away

In Lyon this morning we took a brisk walk along the river bank. It is a bit warmer and the sun is shining. Walked along to where the Saone and Rhone rivers come together. Many ducks and swans swimming in the river. I find it fascinating that when a duck stands on its head to eat its feet are still paddling! The current is quite fast and the ducks can just float down the river, we thought what a great time Josie would have! During lunch we finally set off down the river towards Vienne. Vienne is one of the oldest towns in France, very Roman....
