Oct 15, 2018 - Vieux Port. [weather: the rains, wind and cold weather returns!] Dr. Jan & husband are dinner guests

Good morning, from below deck on Milena again. The rains are predicting to return intermittently today, and be continuous tomorrow. At least today it is shattered, hopefully and not constant. By comparing to two ...’Millie lamas’, we are in/out of green to red: Beaufort 5 to 6. (pic) Marina is trying so desperately to get all the laundry caught up and dried, before the rains descend on us again. With a little luck, I can get my stuff washed and line dried outside, before it is too late. The morning escaped all three of us, on our separate...

Oct 14, 2018 - View Port. [sunny and 73 degrees] Jean-Pierre dinner guest

Good morning to yet another day of sun in Cannes. This is so refreshing after 10+ days of stormy gray, rain, lots of wind. The temperature to begin our day is chilly enough, that I am still having my breakfast below deck. The aftermath of Didier and Jacques, detaching, folding, stuffing and removing 6 sails off the boat yesterday, makes Millie look partially nude. A strange look, when I usually see her totally outfitted and dressed “for charter”. Today my job is to continue to sort my stuff out, emptying “my refrigerator”, and taking arm...

Oct 13, 2018 - Vieux Port. [Weather: partly sunny, 72 degrees]

Good morning. After my early morning egg white omelette, chocolate croissant and iced latte, I felt like I could conquer the world.... Well, what I really need to accomplish is the dreaded chore of packing. Marina is doing her thing, as far as cleaning, arranging and storing the essentials of Milena below deck. The aft cabin we are splitting. I am using the little bed to organize my stuff for the suitcase, whilst Marina has the big bed for organizing Millie’s under pinnings. Jacques is topside and doing all the sails...

Oct 12, 2018 - Vieux Port. [first day of sun in 12 days!: Chateau Roubine]

GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE! (This is the first day of sun we have had in the last 11 days!) What a great way to begin, with the sun shining over our shoulders. It seems that Jacques had some pre arranged ideas of how he wanted to spend his morning — which was not the same plans that Marina had — but the two of them are now folding up and storing the sails for winter. According to the port, the slip we are in now is the one that Jacques will have for the winter: SP -111, next the Kennedy’s “floating White House”. (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) ...

Oct 11, 2018 - Vieux Port. [weather: torrents/deluges of rain until 6:00pm]

I feel like I am living in a sub-Mediterranean world, only going up for air once a day, and that is under pure duress. IT IS STILL RAINING AND WITH HOWLING WINDS........dark and dismal.... Another cuddling up in front of the fireplace day, under a duvet, and reading a book. The leak underneath may bathroom sink that I told you about yesterday has now been fixed, however it caused a humungeous piles of towels stacked in the aft cabin for a couple of days. (pic) (pic) (pic) Christian was amazing and insatallled the parts, while Marina...

Oct 10, 2018 - Vieux Port. [weather: saturated with 2 to 2-1/2 inches + of rain/sogginess]

What a dark, dismal, blustery, windy and squally day. Breakfast in the salon is the only place warm and cozy for 100s of miles from here. I felt so sorry for Jacques, who, as is his daily ritual, got up, and sloshed his way accross to Paul’s bakery on the Rue de Meynadier, for our morning croissants addiction. When he returned he was drenched, and dripping of water, but he pulled out a dry bag filled with three much loved croissants. How when he was soaked to the skin, he managed to walk probably 1+1-1/2 miles and keep the bakery goods dry...

Oct 9, 2018 - Vieux Port. [Justin 19th birthday!]

Good morning. When I saw this cake, and how much Justin loves Oreos cookies ands ice cream..... this is the better that I could do.... particularly with no kitchen or oven. It truly did look good enough to eat. When Jacques came back from the bakery with the croissants he asked me: “Robin you know, or recognize the smaller classic boat tied just next to us?. Jacques inquired of me with a grin on his face. “Yes, Robin, you should know....” he continued. “No..” I said. “It is a smaller classic, and really pretty — well taken care of...”. I...

Oct 8, 2018 - Vieux Port. (Weather: cold and very windy in the bay)

Good morning. It is so wonderful to start my day off the same way— perfectly., (pic) Jacques was a tad bit delayed in getting the croissants here, because he ran into a friend. And when that happens we never know when he will return. And if he gets too sidetracked he will come back empty handed. We may have waited an extra long period of time, but when Jacques did return, he had Paul’s bakery croissants with him. The rest of the morning I spent organizing my room, and beginning to put things in my suitcase I know I was either not going to...

Oct 7, 2018 - Vieux Port (Weather: torrential rain down pouring all day/night)

We all woke up to a very cold, and soggy wet day. The kind of day that you want to curl up on the couch in front of the fireplace, and cuddle under a duvet, with a good book. Nice thoughts — but impractical for the here and now. There was not much any of us could do, except wait for the waters from the sky to turn off. Milena’s decks were beginning to be saturated with water, and very cold to the feet. Poor Jacques, went out in this horrid weather to go up to Paul’s bakery (Rue de Meynadier), to get us daily croissants addiction: two...

Oct 6, 2018 - Vieux Port (‘Beaumont’-Sur-Mer)my adaptation story of DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS returning 30 years later!

Explanation behind today’s blog: Ok..... I admit I am star struck.... and today was the most perfect of days that let me put together a story around the 1988 film: DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, starring Michael Caine and Steve Martin. I did not realize that this movie was a re-make of a 1964 classic: BEDTIME STORY. (See plot and explanation below) (pic) (pic) (pic) My day comprised of nothing to take pictures of. I was readying myself slowly all day long, for my trip to Beaulieu-sur-Mer tonight. I had arranged for a limo service to drive us...

Oct 5, 2018 - Vieux Port, Cannes. (Weather issues: gone and warnings are over)

Good morning..... according the Harbor and ‘Millie’ Lama.... all weather restrictions are now lifted. Yea! AND the Duty Free is over! Cannes is back to its normal hectic local life until the next event comes to town. I ate my breakfast a little bit faster this morning. (pic) . Marina and I had places to go, and things to do, and it is best we start early before it gets too hot. After stopping at a couple boutiques along the way, we worked our way up to the Cannes market, which I love. (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) (pic) Such a lively fun,...

Oct 4, 2018 - Vieux Port, Cannes. (Weather issues: day #2: a lot of wind outside Vieux Port)

I was enjoying my freshly squeezed orange juice, egg white omelette, and latte, when Jacques arrived the my chocolate croissant and Marina’s raisin, with almond tarte. This is still the most delicious way to start a day. After finishing breakfast, Marina did her chores quickly, and I straightened up my stuff, so we could go to A darling boutique that Marina found yesterday. (pic) . By the time we got to this darling boutique, it was closed, and not scheduled to open again until tomorrow morning. Oh well. We continued walking along the...
