Sep 26, 2017 - Parnu

Day 16 - Tuesday 26th September The spell of lovely sunny weather continued today. We had a look round Haapsalu before heading South down the coast. Not much to see in Haapsalu but they do have a railway museum at the old station. The outdoor display of engines & trucks has some impressive old steam engines. The drive down the coast was a bit disappointing as there weren't many places to actually se the sea. We did go off road & found a nice forest spot for lunch which had a track down to the beach. We were going to stop the night at Parnu...

Sep 1, 2017 - Parnu, Estonia

And I thought that I had fully experienced different bathroom situations. Nope. Just when I thought I had seen everything, I arrived at my hosts house in Parnu, Estonia and discovered that the shower was in the kitchen. In addition, the water closet (toilet) was quite a distance from the bedroom, outside the main door of the house in a little closet of the entry way. This was no easy task to stumble from your bed to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Having said that, my host Tiina was lovely, and the first night I was there, she...

Sep 28, 2005 - Pärnu

Start: Virtsu End: Pärnu Weather: Overcast, occasional light Rain with a late Storm Ride: 75km Awoke before 8am again and spent time completing journal entries for Finland. When I ventured out of the tent I noted it was overcast and there had been an overnight dew. Hung the flysheet and tarpaulin over shrubs while I packed camp. I was back on the track at 10.15am, riding in sandals to give my feet a break from my smelly socks & shoes (& vice-versa). Laundry was very much a high priority. Although overcast, it wasn't cold and riding past...

Jul 14, 2005 - From Resort to Village to City

After exploring the old Russian towns in the Northeast, we began the drive toward Parnu, a lovely resort town by the sea that, like Saaremaa, has its share of curative mud and spa hotels. Along the way we passed through the center of the country stopping at the town of Poltsama. Aside from its lovely rose gardens at the center of town (an area formerly called Rose Court), the town has few attractions and only a handful of foreign tourists pass through here every year. Perhaps this is why the woman at the tourist office greeted us with such...

Sep 28, 2004 - Parnu & Peachies contribution

Parnu - fascintating place. It is Estonia's summer time beach resort city. Let me tell you how much there is to do there in late September on a Tuesday night. And moving right along then.... Mr NIGEL BEACH would like to add his ten-cents worth. Take it away Peachy. ---- Salutations to you travel website chums. Nice spider site Nils (Phone) Beuth. Seeing I have an uncanny knack to doze off in trains, buses, metros, cars and sitting postures in general it's nice to be able to read up on what I missed. Travelling as a gang of four has it's...
