Jun 30, 2010 - Birthday day!

Today, being my actual birthday, was a very relaxed day. I ate breakfast, opened birthday cards and then we went to San Vito, about an hours drive from Villa Neilly. We spent a few hours walking around the botanical garden, and I took quite a lot of photos of all the beautiful tropical plants, palms and peculiar flora for my Grandma! There posted here for all to see too. But it might be a little boring for those not interested in plants! Then afterwards we went in to the town of San Vito to eat. Being founded by Italians errr.... some time...

Jul 8, 2006 - Rio Chiquiri

All I wanted to do was fall asleep on the butt-crack of dawn ride to the Chiquiri River, but the crazy ex-pat, Kevin, who ran the river rafting expedition could not keep his mouth shut. Thankfully, we stopped halfway between Boquete and the push off point. Eric and Ian had a quick ro-sham-bo to see who had to sit in front next to Kevin. Eric lost, so I jumped in the back seat of the van with Ian and Marijn (the Dutch girl we met in Boquete who joined us for a few days of adventures). After a 2.5 hour ride winding through incredible peaks...

May 11, 2005 - near the PANAMA-COSTA RICA border

We went white water rafting down a class 3 section of the Chiriqui Viejo river, reputedly the most challenging rafting river in Central America. We saw lots of iguanas, cormorants, kingfishers, various fish, and a very large Harpy Eagle. The kids did great on their first rafting expedition...we didn't have to fish them out once!
