Wednesday, January 7, 2009 Today was a good day as we finally got or luggage last night. Who says “Clothes Don’t Make A Man” We started out on a boat tour of Golfo Dolce. Dolce means “ sweet” in Spanish. One of the deepest gulfs in the world at over 1,000 ft deep. Our bungalow looks out over the Gulf to the other side. Our first stop was the Osa Wildlife Sanctuary in the Piedras Blanca National Park across the Gulf. Jan 15, 2007 - Panama Canal

Crossing the Panama Canal! What an interesting day!! Got to the Gatun locks, first set on the Atlantic side, at 6:30 a.m. This is the most complex and most interesting of the three sets since it has three levels and two sides. We needed six "mules" (i.e. train engines) to pull us through. We were alongside a huge container ship with almost no clearance on its sides (referred to as a "Panamax"). Our QEII is also a Panamax.
