Feb 22, 2008 - tamarindo

So i landed in san jose which to me looked like a dump that i didn´t want to stay in. i stayed one night in a hostal that looked like it was a prison from the outside. A decent place in retrospect but i didn´t feel like staying that long in that city. I left almost immediately, so quickly actually that i ended up waiting at the bus station for the next 3.5 hrs so i wouldn´t have to bum around the hostal. So after a 3.5 hr wait there, i got on the bus for the next 6 hours and it took me to Tamarindo, a small beach/surfer town that is hugely...

We had a picnic - bread, mustard and ham - on route. stopped at a beautiful meadow. got a great pic. All the towns we past seemed to be built around an intersection. It is very calm and you get a wave almost every 10/20...

Mar 27, 2007 - Pura Vida!! Welcome to Costa Rica!!!

Welcome to Costa Rica Finally managing to free myself from the shackles of a schedule and an itinerary me and Bas along with dutch surfer Robert bus our way out of Nicaragua and cross border number 5 into Costa Rica with no idea what our final destination was going to be and to be honest as long as it had a beach and surf we didn't care. Costa Rica has got to be definitely the richest and most developed Central American country visited so far in terms of tourist infrastructure and boy do they loooveeee the tourist dollars - always the sign...

Jun 30, 2006 - Week Three

I think maybe I might have decided to stay in Guanacaste ( Playas de Coco/Playa Hermosa)! That said, I met with the marketing manager at playa conchal ( a cruise ship on land) http://www.reservaconchal.com/ and may have some opportunities there working with the real estate development division or hotel events. They have a convention center on site, 7 restaurants, the largest pool in Costa Rica, a private beach, a golf course and much much more. It is amazing and has the most beautiful beach I have seen so far. Could be heavenly. So, I will...

Feb 12, 2006 - Nachos as big as your ass

Jessie and I took full advantage of the complimentary breakfast this morning before making our way to the local bus station and hopping on a bus for Tamarindo Beach on the Nicoya peninsula. It was a long 6 hour journey, but the scenery was pretty nice and helped to pass the time. It took us awhile to find our hotel, "El Jardin del Eden," once we arrived, but the wait was well worth it as the place was gorgeous! It was high up on a hill and our room had a balcony with views of the town and beach down below....not too shabby! One of the...

Kristy's World Tour!

Mar 10, 2005 - Last day in Grenada

Well today is my last full day in Grenada. I will be leaving early tomorrow for the border and will head back to Tamarindo where I will spend Semana Santa, Holy Week. Grenada for the most part has been a very beautiful city, it is very different from Costa Rica though. The people here seem to have a lot of resentment towards gringos. The people don't smile at you or acknowledge you on the street. It is somewhat safe if you know where you are going and stay in groups. I have only had one run in with a local who thought that we look down on...
