As we left San Isidro this morning the sun was shining but with the altitude rising the temperature was just right. The road was very twisty as it climbed out of the valley. The road was lined with an amazing array of plants and flowers. It was a perfect day and we were riding in the perfect place. It just does not get any better. It was a good thing we really appreciated the “perfect day” for the first hour or so because everything went down hill after that. Dec 4, 2007 - Las Pumas

I grabbed an early bus for todays big adventure to Las Pumas near the town of Cañas. I caught a bus to the main highway, then standing on the side of the road hailed down the next bus coming along. I asked the driver to drop me off at Las Pumas wildlife refuge. When I arrived the place was very quiet. I was the only person there aside from a guy on the gate and a lady in the souvenir shop.
