Nicoya, despite its hot and dusty climate, was a breath of fresh air. We had left the 24-hour celebration of tourism that was Montezuma and were now surrounded by genuine Costa Rican culture. Few people spoke English, we couldn't read any of the signs, there were churches and cows everywhere, people were going to their jobs instead of going to the beach, and no one was trying to sell us fake Indian sculptures....
