Dec 3, 2004 - Goodbye Southern Patagonia, fond farewell

We drove north through Rio Grande, San Sebastian - both border crossings, Cerro Sombrero and after a mad dash up the last section of paved road at 100mph finally made it to the ferry port in time for the last sailing to Punta Delgado at 9:30pm! There were loads of trucks in the queue so we hoped they'd manage to squeeze us in! Otherwise we were stuffed!!! We had no accommodation booked and hoped we could get into Guesthouse Paradiso again on the other side but thought we'd better ring ahead this time as we were going to be quite late...

Nov 26, 2004 - Punta Delgada, Guesthouse Paradiso & Pali Aike NP

Planned to drive a couple of hours east, near to the ferry crossing point at Punta Delgado, find a hostal... few & far between! Then eat! We followed the south coast of mainland Chile and although still raining, the colour of the water was gorgeous! We passed through a now run down and derelict Estancia San Gregorio with washed up freight boat skeletons on the beach like whale bones. Apparently there was a petrol station here but it was invisible! Near Kimiri Aike and getting late we eventually found Hotel El Tehuelche... soon to be known...
