Aug 19, 2015 - aug 19

Too confused about which day!!! We have had a stressful couple of days, but all is well now. The van was in much worse shape than we thought so it needs a lot of work , lucky for us we have a vw guy on the job that Murray is very happy with. So it will be at least another week so we're using some air miles to fly to Newfoundland for a week. Bummer we miss that17 hour ferry ride! So today i spend the day booking flights , rental car and rooms for the first 3 days as it was the weekend and busy everywhere. Fly out Friday morning early and our...

Oct 23, 2012 - Union Station

....continued. Two things to address. I really don't know why 4 of the previous pictures are compressed? No idea at all. The other concern is I received a few queries reference that brainy looking thing on a previous post. Well a young relative thought it would be appropriate considering it is near Halloween to have a jello 'brain' with worms sticking out of it, thus his creation was dessert. Ok train ride from Ottawa to Toronto was good. Very fast and relaxing of course. We Arrived here in TO and checked into the first class lounge and...

Oct 23, 2012 - Last Day

22/10 Wash - - pack, wash - pack, done! Ready to go Every one was at work or at school. Margret and I got ready for the train trip. Later on we went for a long walk. However the leaves are all falling. It really is fall! Golf really is done for the season I guess. Alert, alert. Not good news! I have recently come off a regime of drugs (for what reason is un important). But one of the side effects is weight gain. Along with being on holidays and lots of eating I have reached a point I thought and had not wanted to reach, 197lbs. No wonder...

Oct 22, 2012 - It's Packing Time!

Well I thought my last entry would cause some controversy, and generate lots of comments. But it was not to be. Hey, gas is down to $1.17 here. What happened? Yesterday was a great day. Kids are all home. We heard about their adventures in California. Looked at some great pictures & videos last night. Having never been to any of the Disney Parks it was quite a show. It isn't on our bucket list, but you never know. We lost our wheels yesterday. We gassed up, washed and returned the car to Randy's folks. It was nice of them to lend the car...

Oct 20, 2012 - Why!

I couldn't really think of a title today, so thought this would be appropriate for a start. Why that title? Well I saw something today and read an article that caused me to think back to public school. Here it is , why have we gone back in history and re-wrote it? What I read today and what I learnt in public school all those years ago are completely 180degrees apart. Louis Riel an American and convicted murderer and traitor (80 persons & Poor Thomas Scott) is now being portrayed as something different because of a voice of a minority...

Oct 19, 2012 - Kanata

Oh, oh The day didn't start out very good (not counting that!) Internet went down. It happened just after we were facetime-ing with our friends in Red Deer. So there we were internetless! We managed to relax, put our feet up and read. After lunch we went shopping. By the way, the weather is lousy so there was no golfing today. I think by the looks of the weather to come, we won't be golfing at least until we get back to Red Deer. Hopefully the weather will be nice for a time in Red Deer. If not I suppose we will have to wait until next year...

Oct 18, 2012 - Return to Ottawa.

When some one says that the weather can effect your health believe it! Or at least I think so. My reasoning? The weather changed a few days ago, and I started feeling sore all over. Now you have to remember, there is a lot of humidity in this province and it was cold. I was so stiff, I hurt almost to tears. But still went golfing for those two days and had a real fun time with our friends. It was so good to see them. Today the sun was shining, and I was feeling great, not sore at all. Ergo my reasoning! Stopped in Trenton at my nephews...

Oct 10, 2012 - Another Birthday - 9 Oct

Just where did the time go! Yes yesterday was my birthday. I told Kodi that I am not sure if it is 17 or 71. I want to thank everyone who sent me birthday greetings, and cards, both digital and actual. I started the day out by having brunch with two friends from back in my Army Days. Nothing nicer than meeting with old friends. We had a lot to talk about. You should always make the attempt to keep in touch with friends, no matter where they are. Internet makes it all possible. After brunch, Margret and I headed out to the golf course. I...

Oct 8, 2012 - Thanksgiving!

So todays entry is with pictures, lots of them I hope. They will be in no particular order. Some from yesterday and today. This entry in the journal will cover both yesterday and today. However the computer gremlin has been waiting for me. I seem to be only to load the pics up 1 at a time and the tripjournal webpage seems to keep crapping out. This is Thanksgiving weekend and I know we all have a lot to be thankful for. Yesterday first thing Kodi and I went for a hike through the woods, climbing over rocks, kicking leaves and playing in...

Oct 6, 2012 - Understanding

Why that title! Can anyone explain to me the following: I am 70 years old. I have traveled to the far reaches of the earth. I have dined with Princesses (one). I have met the Aboriginals of Australia & observed the Maori dancers of New Zealand. I have sailed the South Seas, in addition to experiencing the food of the Fijians. I have chatted with the future king of Samoa. I have sailed through the Panama Canals, enjoyed the canals of Venice. I have visited 14 countries in Europe. With all that experience in life, can you explain to me how a...

Oct 6, 2012 - Red Friday was Yesterday!

So i thought that this being Ottawa, everyone would be wearing red to support the troops. Was I ever wrong! At least Small town Red Deer acknowledges the troops. Not overly but you see a lot more red shirts etc there in Support of the troops. The Highlight of the day? Having lunch with Kodi at SK (senior kindergarten). They sure feed them well, all according to the Canada healthy eating guide, or something like that. Kodi was quite excited to have his Gramps and Oma there. When we arrived we ended up reading to all the kids (about a dozen,...
