Jul 16, 1989 - Flight to Rio

SUNDAY 16th JULY The flight to Rio was at 9.30 a.m. and so we were up early and in the hotel lobby by 7.30 a.m. waiting for a taxi which had been ordered the night before. When the taxi had still not arrived at 7.50, we began to be a little worried. It was a long drive to the airport. Cath and Lynn walked out to the main road, but the best they could find was a very "beat up" old Volkswagon. We piled the five of us plus our luggage in as best we could, and arrived at the airport at 8.30. All was well until it was time for Susan to check in....
