The third day is the most outstanding, crossing the Salar de Uyuni (the world's largest dried salt lake of 12,000 km2) at a height of 3,663m. This is a mind-blowing, snow-blindingly, caustically empty, other-wordly environment where reality merges with mirages to create an undreamed dream. In the midst of these salt flats is a coral island (Isla de Pescadores) marroned and jammed full of giant cacti - a wierd lunch stop where we eat off tables made entirely out of salt and then onto the Hotel Playa Blanca - which is all made out of salt,...
