Feb 10, 2010 - Glastonbury - Dances with Cows

Feb 6, 2010 - Rainbow Beach - Carlo Sand Blow

Feb 5, 2010 - Rainbow Beach

No luck.

Dec 20, 2008 - Fraser Island to Rainbow Beach, QLD - 7th best swimming spot in the world

Had a nice lie in at the Eurong resort & went for the fairly bog standard breakfast before departing heading north along 75 mile beach to our first stop at the coloured sands of the pinnacles. We then continued to our most northerly stop on the island at Indian Head. We took a short climb from the bus to take advantage of the 300 degree sea views and were able to sport two giant sting rays and a turtle; Tim was fairly certain he spotted a shark as well although it was difficult to tell. After climbing back down to the bus we began going...

Dec 18, 2008 - Kroombit Park to Rainbow Beach, QLD - hangover bus!

We both woke up with a bit of a sore head, but we both thought we were ready to face the world after a shower and some breakfast...turned out we were very wrong we we set off from Kroombit via a very dubious shortcut whereupon both of our headaches returned with avengeance. This was another long fairly uneventful journey although we did stop to see a Goanna by the side of the road and again at the site of the longest tunnel through solid rock in the southern hemisphere. In the afternoon we stopped in the town of Maryborough to see a very...

Mar 28, 2008 - Rainbow Beach

After Brisbane I spent several hours travelling north to the itsy bitsy town of Rainbow Beach. It took literally 5 minutes to see the entire place. There are no stoplights and every shop, cafe, and post office is located on one side of one street which stretches between another street with all of the hostels on it and the beach. Anyone who gets lost in this place should have their passport revoked. Despite it's petite size this is an interesting stop with a very chilled out atmosphere. The town got its name from the multi-colored sands...

Oct 29, 2007 - Thunderstorms and Rainbow Beach

Crazy crazy thunderstorms!!! I woke up at 2am this morning in Canberra to the craziest storms I have ever seen in my life. They were pretty impressive but also a little scary at the same time. Not too long after that (at 4:40am...uggg) I had to get up to make it to the airport for my flight back to Brisbane. I spent a few hours in the city (also with crazy thunderstorms) and then caught the bus the Rainbow Beach....you guessed it, also with crazy thunderstorms along the whole way. I haven't seen much of the place yet, miostly because it is...

Aug 17, 2007 - Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island

I arrived into Rainbow Beach, which was one of the places you could do a tour to Fraser Island. Fraser Island is an integral part of the backpacker circuit on East Coast Australia and consists of a "see how many backpackers we can fit into a 4wd car and then send them off to the worlds largest sand island for three days" tour. I was mildly apprehensive about the tour as I had heard a couple of horror stories about groups of people not getting along with each other and because they were in close proximity with each other for three days,...
