Sep 6, 2008 - Crikey!
“Crikey”, what a day we had! That morning we actually got up early, “Wow” I hear you cry, to make our way to the Australia Zoo. This is also known as the Steve Irwin zoo. In case you don’t know Steve Irwin ‘the crocodile hunter’ is the crazy Australian dude who appeared on TV documentaries looking at crocodiles, snakes and lizards. Steve died in 2006 whilst filming a documentary about sting rays, when he took one to the chest. His wife Terri, daughter Bindi and son Robert continue on with the Zoo, TV shows and 'Wildlife Warriors' programs...Jump to full entry
Aug 17, 2008 - The Last Wishes of Bob Riddle
August brought picture perfect weather to the Sunshine Coast. After seemingly months of overcast days and intermittent rainstorms, our typical Queensland winter weather had finally arrived. Those strong south easterlies had been replaced by light southwesters and with them, weeks of chilly mornings but gloriously warm sunny days. Their calming influence on the Coral Sea created lake like conditions with transparent waters. It was ideal beach weather; for sailing, swimming, snorkeling but not for surfing. Jason and I lamented the flat spell...Jump to full entry
Jul 3, 2008 - Good times in Noosa
We arrived in Noosa late afternoon and checked into our room and met our new room mates... they were very cool! A french guy with a guitar and an older Kiwi guy who was full of advice! We went to the bar and managed to be-friend the manager and ended up playing pool with him and some other guys all night because he had the keys so it was FREE!!! Free stuff is always so much better! The next day we went to Australia Zoo! It was awesome! We had a wicked time and its an amazing place! The Croc show was very good... not the same without Stevo...Jump to full entry
Mar 19, 2008 - Noosa
Caught the bus in the morning for the shortish journey to Noosa. When we arrived at the hostel and was waiting to check in I realised I couldn't find my passport. It should have been in my pocket. I had used it as ID in the hostel bar the night before -as it is my only real form of ID thats the last time I did anything with it. So in such a short time frame it had somehow gotten out of my pocket and vanished. I rand the hostel in Rainbow Beach to see if anything had been handed in. I thought that magicalled through Karma someone would as I...Jump to full entry
Mar 4, 2008 - Noosa & Hervey Bay
Noosa We spent three nights in Noosa which is a wealthy seaside town on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. To be honest, there's not much to report at all! The main activities are surfing and sunbathing but as it rained 90% of the time we were there, there wasn't much chance to do either. Surfing isn't exactly my (Suzie) favourite activity at the moment as I'm still nursing a huge bruise on my leg from our surfing lesson! Our hostel was also manky and in a poor location so we wouldn't exactly say that Noosa was our favourite place in...Jump to full entry
Nov 29, 2007 - Getting ready..........................
Ok - so things are moving fast now and we are having round 1 of packing tonight ! ( I know this because I have made timetables and copious lists to ensure that nothing missed ) and although this is followed by a rounds 2 and of course round 3 which is the culling round - we will still no doubt be throwing things in our bags as we walk out the door on the way to the airport. My sister Carol and I have long harboured a dream to board the aircraft with only one small neat piece of handluggage - the reality of course is that we look like pack...Jump to full entry
Aug 21, 2007 - Noosa
I left Rainbow Beach in the pouring rain on the bus for Noosa, along with Annie and Kati from my Fraser tour. Apparently a storm front had come in and was due to stay for a few days. The local Australians were pleased as it had not rained properly for almost a year but from the traveling perspective it was a bit of a nightmare. Somehow it was raining harder when we arrived in Noosa and we were thankful to arrive into the hostel. We braved the elements later on in the day to walk around town but the driving rain prevented any real...Jump to full entry
May 22, 2007 - Crikey!! .. get a load of this little fella!!
So left Brisbane on a high as had a pretty good laugh there, but next was Noosa, basically a coastal resort popular with the Aussies, a little more upmarket and yeah a pretty nice place. I ended up staying at Koala's backpackers and ended up bumping in to Woody and Peas from Brisbane which was cool, spent the evening with them in the bar watching bad Kareoke but was pretty entertaining. The next day I was due to swap hostels as I heard YHA was a lot better, and nearer town but by the time the morning came I couldn't be arsed. Got chatting...Jump to full entry
May 8, 2006 - 2nd stop: Noosa
ADELE: Second stop before we head overseas was up to Noosa to say farewell to Scott's family. Thanks everyone for your good wishes & hospitality. I will try my best to keep Scott out of trouble over the next 12 months. No promises though, he quite often doesn't listen to me. SCOTT: We had a great couple of days in Noosa staying with Colleen (Mum) & Darryl. We got to say goodbye to my brother Brendan and family - Nicole, Aprile & Austin, as well as say goodbye to Aunty Lee, Jan and John. Hopefully we can meet up with Jan & John later in the...Jump to full entry
