The Weekend Wedding

Nov 2, 2019 - the big day

Come the big day we left our overnight accommodation at Mapleton 26km north from Maleny, and headed to the wedding about 2:00pm The Wedding was at 2:30pm John Armstrong (Micah's uncle) officiated and did a superb job as always. Those who were invited to the service and afternoon tea left their cars at the Maleny UCA and were brought by bus to the farm - two trips were needed. There just wasn't enough room on the farm for all the cars. Marquees were set up for the afternoon tea and blankets were spread so people could lounge around, chat,...

Hi all Ever wondered what we get up to on the weekends? Well here’s one with a difference. Wait until a few days before the wedding. Select a Bride and Groom - - Ally King and Micah Gibson will do. On Friday take a Maleny Macadamia processing shed, push the equipment into a corner, remove everything in the room, stuff it somewhere else, hang some ladders from the roof trusses, poke in some greenery, hang some lights, bring in some hired tables and chairs, light a few candles AND IT’S DONE for a reception room. Outside - - - find a large...

The Weekend Wedding

Aug 19, 2016 - Maleny - at the farm

Friday 19th Aug - at farm 7:30am saw us over at the house so that Bob could attend a meeting in Brisbane for the morning followed by a luncheon engagement. Jan stayed with Annette and Ron went over to the processing shed and cracked some nuts for Bob and us for personal consumption. That quickly wiled away a couple of hours. During the time Annette was awake, she and Jan listened to a message from Charles Swindoll and listened to comedian Jeanne Robinson - that gave them both a good laugh. Late afternoon Bob and Annette had a visitor for an...

Aug 18, 2016 - Maleny - at the nut (or nutty) farm

Thursday 18th Aug - at farm We had some heavy rain last night but only for a short time. This morning was cloudy but we’re up getting breakfast and listening to a butcher bird sing in the fig tree above the shed where we are parked. Mid morning we got the thrilling text and photo to say that Sharla now had her Ps. That’s right everybody, another young one on the roads - but don’t worry you won’t have to watch out ‘cos Sharla is a good driver. What a difference that will make to Kaye’s life - not having to do so much running around. This...

Jan 28, 2016 - Maleny & The Glass House Mountains

What a pleasure to have met and spent time with Glori & Glen at their 'slice of paradise' in Maleny. Thank you both so much for your hospitality & friendship. And thank you Jim for providing the introduction. Maleny is a small town in the Blackall Range northwest of Brisbane, between the Glass House Mountains and Conondale National Park. The Glass House Mountains were so named by Capt. Cook in 1770 because viewed from the ocean they reminded him of the glass factory towers in England. A great view of them as a group is from Maleny. Prior...

Jul 17, 2014 - Maleny

After six days at Ipswich the road was calling so we ventured further northward passing Wivenhoe Dam and camping at a free camp in the Woodford area. We were lucky enough to find a flat spot for the night, it was a bit noisy with the highway traffic but you must expect that when camping near the highway and it is free. The following day we visited Australia Zoo near Beerwah, we saw some tigers with their handlers up close before we went through the entry. Inside we watched a great show featuring crocs and a bird show. We really enjoyed all...

Jun 8, 2009 - B & B in Braeside

Monday 8th June 2009 Do we move – yes! And we set off for the hinterland and Yandina and then the Blackall Range tourist drive. We pass through some lovely villages and try the walk at Mapleton Falls – but it’s not inspiring at all! Though the town is nice as is the very busy village of Montville – full of tourists on this the Queens Birthday – damn forgot to send her a card! Then we get a call to go and visit Ken and Elizabeth Smith in their B & B just outside of Maleny – so off we go and with excellent directions we are there in...

Jan 11, 2008 - The Animal Farm @ Maleny, Queensland Australia

The Animal Farm @ Maleny Melaney Queensland Australia January 4th - 7th In a little quaint town of Maleny we stayed a few days at an Animal Farm. This farm is run by a family with 7 children, yes I said 7, a lot of the children work on the farm with the family, and there is a lot of work to do. We would gather each morning by 7:30 to have a go at feeding the animals, milking the cows and collecting eggs. Tori you will notice from the lack of her face in the pictures chose not to join us in the mornings. She just thought it was to dirty, to...
