TUESDAY 6th October Our aim today was to drive through to Rockhampton after a visit to the Coal Museum and a quick grocery shop. So after morning tea outside the coal museum, we moved on stopping at Duaringa for a look to see what changes had been made. It has a large open area for free camping with a central "oasis" water feature and grass around 2 sides, clean toilets and hot showers for donation only. We thought it would be great for lunch and having had that decided it was too nice to pass up enjoying a few more hours so the stabilisers...

17th April. The rain hasn’t eventuated, we left Rockhampton this morning on our way to Emerald, after driving through a number of small (really small) settlements we decided to stop at Duaringa for morning tea. At the edge of town is a lovely park, McKenzie Park is run by the Shire, there are very good clean toilets and showers (gold coin donation to use the shower) the park has plenty of shade and has a lily pond with a waterfall, plenty of covered seating, & children’s play equipment and barbecues. Feb 2, 2005 - Byron Bay, NSW to Mackay, Queensland - The Tropics - Mozzy-ville!
We left Byron last Tuesday and headed to Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, crossing into Queensland. Paradise it was not, least not for us. Driving into the place felt like driving into Benidorm or worse, Clacton ;o) It rained pretty much solidly for three days, so on Australia Day, we visited Australia Zoo, home of Steve Irwin, Crocodile Hunter. And man, is he a nutter!! We saw two of his croc shows, a snake show, a tiger show and a slightly more sedate koala presentation! Those crocs are certainly not trained. It took four big blokes...
