Dec 11, 2019 - Coolangatta
The Gold Coast Day 97 Surfers Paradise The drive to Coolangatta takes us back towards Brisbane where we pick up the Pacific Highway to the Gold Coast. As we drive, we pass a number of theme parks including Dreamworld, Movie World and Wet’n’Wild. We ask Marcus if he would like to go to one, but he really isn’t bothered much to our relief. The roller coasters can be seen towering above the tree tops. Leaving the M1 we head to Southport for a drive along the coast. Traffic is heavy and we are bumper to bumper until we turn south on highway 2....Jump to full entry
Jun 29, 2016 - Friends, friends and more friends!
Hi Everyone Many years ago in the year 1990 (!) we emigrated to Australia with Tina then aged 5 and Alasdair who was 4. We enrolled Tina into Hurstville Grove Infants School, a school of only 70 pupils and that is were we made some very good friends and a couple of these friends, Kim & Ken and Annette & Clive, now live on the Gold Coast in Queensland so that was our next destination. We did our usual thing and parked in front of their homes and made good use of their showers and washing machines. Thanks guys. It was great fun spending time...Jump to full entry
Mar 14, 2015 - Going, Going...Tomorrow
Sat.14th March 2015 Weather: - Partly cloudy/27 Degrees Tomorrow we are off again and I expect the morning will be a long one as the MSC Orchestra will not be docking at Fishermans’ Island Brisbane, (the Grain Terminal) until 1pm and as we are already packed and suitcases weighed on the best scales around—Tweed Hospital, (I figure they have got to be right) we are ready for the ‘OFF’. The reason for the weigh in is because as we generally travel ‘light’ and we are only on board the Orchestra for 7 days and hand washing is an option I am...Jump to full entry

So you thought that you had heard the last of me 'cause I did not finish my last journal well there were reasons for that, I have been feeling very low of late, have still not fought of my bronchial infection (immune system is kaput) but with a bit of help from my oncologist I should soon be on top of that situation again. Nov 7, 2014 - Going, Going..Nearly Gone?
The excitement is starting to build and it is hard to believe that we will be on the other side of the world again in 2 days time where we will be visiting my favorite art gallery namely ‘The Hall of the Senate’ in Palazzo Ducale, Venice once more. In the past I have marveled more there than in the Sistine Chappell but that may change this trip as the Sistine Chappell now has a new improved lighting system giving a sharper, clearer view of all the masterpieces that adorn the place and hopefully as we will be there in a low tourist season we...Jump to full entry

Oct 16, 2014 - Gum Boots--Needed????
(Big Bertha Suitcase--formerly known as Freddie Suitcase) Oops, yes, I have had a slight gender re-alignmet while I was redundant in the wardrobe, gotta keep life interesting! Wacky Doo,I’m free once more. I’m out of that wardrobe at last and I have heard a rumour that I’m employed again. She nearly planned on taking that hard shell suitcase that has moved in with me but the threat of High Tides while in Venice and the fact that I can be back-packed has swung this trip my way. After Venice we are going on a 23 day cruise up and down the...Jump to full entry
Mar 24, 2014 - Wet and Wild (Best Day Out)
Monday 24th Today was going to be another big day out, we are going to Wet and Wild. Steph was not keen on the rides at Movie World or Sea World, so we were not expecting to do much today. The day starts out very fine but a bit cloudy. We arrived at 10 am, just as the park was opening. There was a large number of people waiting to go in, even though it is a school and work day. It didn't take us long to get into the park, the VIP pass made it very quick. The first thing we did was checked out the map, Steph noticed everyone hiring lockers...Jump to full entry
Mar 23, 2014 - Sightseeing and the Australian Outback Spectacular show
Saturday 22nd Today I have the car booked into the Mitsubishi dealer in Tweeds Head (NSW) I thought it was due for a service (70,000 kms) but it is not due until 75000, but we have been unable to open the glove box, it has jammed locked. So these guys are going to sort that out for us. This is the second time this has happened (must be a fault with this model Pajero) Anyway we had the car to them at 9am NSW time, Steph and I went for a walk to a large shopping center just up the road. After a while (long) Steph found an outfit that she...Jump to full entry
