Feb 15, 2007 - Day 155 - Avoiding the road trains

We set off on a drive into the outback in search of lava tubes. No we didn't really know what they were either, but more interesting than just sticking to the coast road South we thought. Good idea in theory, but the weather decided to give us and the Noddy car a test. It lashed it down all the way! Also the roads, once the main coastal highway is deviated from, become somewhat variable. Once we reached the outback proper, the sealed road ceased to be a one lane each way affair and made do with a central strip of road with a lane of gravel...
