Oct 26, 2018 - Tuncurry

It seems some people have not been to Forster/Tuncurry so I snuck out the back gate and took some photos this afternoon. Included are the “rocks of knowledge” which is a sacred site that spans the vast aeons of time back to 1968 when the breakwater was rebuilt. We move on to Soldiers Point tomorrow.

Oct 25, 2018 - Tuncurry

Yesterday nothing much happened, we drove from Emerald Beach to Tuncurry along what is now mainly dual freeway. Its taken a lot of stress out of the journey and we think has easily taken 45mins of travel time. Though the road is so new a lot of it is not yet on my VMS navigator. We are staying at Tuncurry Beach van park against the dunes. This, as some readers may recall, is where Gracie dragged me along the fence line chasing rabbits. No evidence of rabbits anymore but you can see where Echidna have been digging up ant nests. We bought the...

Jul 1, 2014 - Tuncurry

We had an exciting day today, found a super retirement village at Hallidays Point; http://hallidayshores.com.au/ Very nice indeed with potential for easy resale when you errr “depart” one way or another and simple exit fees structure. All the villas are not built eave to eave either and all have a striking outlook over a forested “greenbelt”.... No steps either and all the doors and hallways are wheelchair, walker and electroscoot compatible... The village is dog friendly too.... Then onto the Tavern for lunch and even Carol had the...

Nov 4, 2012 - Tuncurry

Being Sunday we rose late, did some washing and had lunch. I was feeling off yesterday for some reason, maybe because the stress of the last weeks has lifted. Very low BP, Carol was quite concerned….. We had to move sites yesterday as someone had booked our site and even though we booked for the duration so we moved to the next site. Yes, I did ask would it not be easier to put the new arrivals on the site next to us but the lady at reception was not capable of doing that…. Better TV reception on this site anyway… Digital signals apparently...

Sep 1, 2012 - Windsor to Tuncurry via Nelson Bay

We hit the road again and headed for Tuncurry, a little spot that the couple from Geelong suggested. Lunch found us stopped at a spot called Nelson Bay. Joshie and Marc spent some time watching a kookie (laughing bird)before Joshie went on his first "beach" exploration. After building and knocking down a few sand castles we get back in the car and soon arrive at .... caravan park, which all facilities and park layout is 100% customer driven.

Jul 22, 2011 - Diamond Beach - July 20-22

We left beautiful Port Macquarie in brilliant sunshine and had a great run to Laurieton, where we went up to the mountaintop to the Lookout - just stunning views over the entrance to the river, the ocean and the town. Turn around, and there are just-as-stunning views over the coast and hinterland behind - quite an impressive lookout and must be very popular for picnics etc. The lawn in the foreground of the photo is the "take off" runway for hang-gliders etc - a little pointed area for them to fling themselves off and it is down over the...
