Jan 6, 2018 - Heading home - Oberon

Was to be an early start but there was a heavy fog over the valley when we woke. Waited for it to mostly clear before we set off on a good run down past Canberra onto the motorway into Golburn (oldest inland city in the country). Stopped here and had a bit to eat before heading north through farming country to Oberon (about 2 hours away). Arrived in the early afternoon and kicked backed, doing nothing for the rest of the day. Tomorrow we head into Jenolan Caves.

Jeff What a day this one turned out to be. On our way past Clarence Station last night we called in at the Zig Zag Railway for a sneaky peek. Today we will ride on the Zig Zag Train which will take us from the mountain to the valley below, and was the only way to get the train down the hill at the time. This Zig Zag is special. It was built between 1866 and 1869 without the benefit of machines and is one of the great railway constructions of the nineteenth century.
